Works In Progress

Here's one I'm struggling with...

It's still not finished...currently titled "The Last Time" it's hanging on the wall of my tiny living room asking me what's going to happen next...

Child portrait - I am happy to work from photos so no need for all that boring sitting still! Just email me if you are interested - faerieclare@hotmail.co.uk xx

 Gizebraffe...

Above: Butterfly, petals, gold leaf...

I have been collecting similar materials. If you like any of the paintings shown here please get in touch and I will create a unique painting for you or your loved one.

Come and chat to me on my facebook page xx

One way I try things out is to lay objects or pieces of coloured paper onto a canvas...Above: wool, beads, below: a figure

ABOVE This is a new technique I'm trying out, using really runny paint over texture. It's a fun and playful way to work. Still working on a title for this, maybe two cute kids names...

RIGHT City section from "The Storymaker"

This is the first painted faerie story. I am trying out a new idea - to tell a story in one painting, so it is read around the canvas and will probably be highly individually interpretable in it's meaning. The intention in this story is to tell the tale of a creator whose imagination creates the world. The creator's stories are told to people who take parts with them and distort them, I think this will sadden the creator who sees all the beautiful images twisted, and retreats into blackness leaving the people alone...

And here's the one I just finished at a previous stage...

Alice - in progress. I pushed this image to keep making it simpler and shave it down to the final lines and space.

Reef-Life Alphabet, in progress...

"Encrusted cover" for my altered book, just needs a layer of coloured paint and a layer of yummy gold...

The idea of altered book is to take a pre-written book and change it. In the case of the work shop I attended, run by Alma Dew, we were encouraged to pick a theme and a book to correspond with that, and rework pages with new pictures or text, pockets containing letters/photos etc, holes cut thru to create shapes or windows, a new cover and a hand made bookmark attached into the spine. More photos coming soon...

Untitled work in progress

This is the canvas I created at a Lucja Ray workshop, which is in the process of being turned into "The Storymaker" http://www.lucjaray.com.au/
