Sensory Play/Imaginative Play - Fabric

You will need: scraps and large bits of fabric and other things interesting to the touch and eye eg corrugated card, plastic mirror, cellophane, raffia – nothing sharp or breakable of course and all clean!

This is a great one for babies, let them pick out things they want to feel and chew and lie on and roll on and throw and pull and tear. As a baby my daughter loved tearing up or crumpling old newspapers and magazines.

Once they are a bit older you will find they use this as a chance for imaginative play eg. A blue ribbon becomes a river and a piece of card, a pig field. Then they may want to get their Lego people to inhabit this world – it can keep them busy for a whole rainy afternoon!
