“The work will wait while you show your child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you do the work.” - Patricia Clafford

I always find rainbows inspiring. I think they are very good for the soul. (Wikipedia has a really good article on rainbows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow) It's really about the colours, I love a piece of rainbow ribbon or a rainbow painting, and I try to use rainbow colours in a lot of my work. I find it sad how little most people know about colour and what poor colour memories we all have, but then perhaps the wonder of a bright rainbow in a newly washed sky is the more inspiring because we had forgotten the radiance of the colours. I'm teaching my little girl the colour wheel at the moment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colour_wheel) and I find I'm noticing colours more as I go thru my day. I try to let myself get lost, as she does, in holding her kaleidoscope up to the light or watching purple grape juice wind it's way up thru a curly blue straw. I'd recommend it to anyone - just stop and look the next time a colour sings out to you...
