About Me

When I was about 5 years old someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, it's one of my earliest memories. Actually I can't remember what I said but I remember I wanted to be an artist from that moment.

I loved art at school and took a BA in fine art. I had my first solo exhibition a couple of years later: "Love For Sale" in King Ludd Book Shop's Basement Gallery.

At school I was inspired by colour, brush marks and expression, by the Fauves and American Abstract Expressionism and the Pre-Raphaelite painters.

Now I am living and working in Wiltshire with my 5 year old daughter. I love working in mixed media so that any technique can be used for the purpose of communication and colour and surface are still important to me.

10 really true things about me

1. I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan but I've never seen them play an English venue.

2. My favourite illustrator is Shaun Tan, favourite artist is Mark Rothko.

3. I really want to write a surrealist novel one day.

4. I'm planning a William Morris tattoo...

5. My Mum's bag-lady-esque hoarding tendancies have made me into an obsessive declutterer - everything must have a purpose in my life (inspirational beauty counts!)

6. I want to build a cruck frame house with my own hands.

7. The highest times of my life were my first solo exhibition and meeting my baby girl. (O and being in love)

8. If I could be anyone else in the world I might be...Patty Scialfa.

9. I hatehatehate negative attitude. Yes I can do it so don't tell me I can't!

10. I still believe in real magic.
